Dr. Paul Lewis Hoffman, M.D. will communicate important and effective health information from both a allopathic (western medicine) and an Ayuvredic point of view with an emphasis on  health maintenance, food, cooking, and resolution of both mild and serious illnesses.



Food as Medicine

Unlike many other health methods that are focused on diet, ayurveda custom tailors diet to the individual.  Since everyone is different, their diets should be different.  People generally respond positively to anything that recognizes their individuality. This workshop will improve the general public’s awareness of the benefits of the ayurvedic use of food as medicine.




Dr. Paul Lewis Hoffman, M.D. is a practicing, American Board Certified in two sub specialties, Western-trained community physician with nearly forty years of medical experience.  He is the former Medical Director of the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at San Jose’s Good Samaritan hospital, and is the current Medical Director at the Mount Madonna College of Ayurveda near Santa Cruz, California. In addition, Dr. Hoffman has studied ayurveda with the pre-eminent ayurvedic physician in the U.S., Dr. Vasant Lad, and is practitioner member of the National Ayurvedic Medical Association.

Unlike most physicians, because Dr. Hoffman is educated in two medical sciences; allopathy (western medicine) and ayurveda, this dual training allows him to effectively understand and communicate the essentials of the ayurvedic science in western terms.
